still the tallest man on earth

and his new record will be available april 9th if i remember right. here is "love is all" for you. last time i posted him i said i was not decided if i liked his voice or if it is just annoying. i came to the conclusion that i'll call his voice unique, but what's important, i love his music :) love is all

such great hights

i am not a fan of "death cab for cutie", all this weeping..i mean come on. hence i was surprised to read that "the postal service" is a project of ben gibbard, their singer. of course, when you know it you recognize the voice and i assume his singing here isn't any joyful either, but i like it much better. regards to laura for sending me this song.

brothers in arms

yesterday evening, i was on the concert of the dire straits cover band "brothers in arms", and let me tell you, it was (excuse me here) fucking awesome. the only difference between the following video and yesterday is, that the gig yesterday took place in a super-small pub with maybe 150 people in it and the keyboad-guy was about one arm length away from me, i could have played the keyboard too from my position.

joshua kadison

yes, i know, he looks and acts pretty.. lets call it funny, but it was 1993 when the album "painted desert serenade" (i would still say great album btw.) was released, which was one of my very first cds, a gift from my godmother because my mother told her that i liked the track "picture postcards from LA" from the radio. you also might know the song "jessie". the day before yesterday, this song suddenly popped up in my head and made me sing it half the day, so here it comes for you:

the boys of summer

somehow pretty awesome sunny weather outside, first time running yesterday in shorts and t-shirt made me really happy :) so, here are the boys of summer.. well.. actually they are not if you listen closely, but for suns sake, here they are :) original and cover: and one ear candy, knew it already, was reminded the day before yesterday, really nice for listening in the sun, too .. one could say pretty much amazing :)

Wilco

and again two songs, which would be "hummingbird" (nicely done video too) and "jesus, etc.". you might want to search for norah jones performing "jesus, etc." on youtube, too. :) hummingbird jesus, etc.

the zutons

here come the zutons, again 2 songs, you may know the second because someone covered it last year, was pretty big in the radio if i remember right. addition: of course it was amy winehouse who covered it. i normally like her music, but i like this valerie better than hers i think.. provided that they can be compared hello conscience valerie

the coral

i was surfing a bit through youtube yesterday evening and the outcome is a huge pile of music i intend to post over the next days. the start will be the coral with two songs, "dreaming of you" and "put the sun back", which also may provide the motto of the day: we've got to put the sun back in our hearts isn't that nice?! now, have fun with the music

Broken Bells

..with the first single "the high road" of their self-intitled album. they caught my attention just yesterday with this song here .. again i must say, because i felt like knowing it already when i heard it. think it must have crossed my ear through hype machine some weeks back. anyways, here comes the song:

st. patrick's day

let's celebrate it with an irish band.. but..well..not the typical dubliners or pogues or something like that. unfortunately the video ends a bit abruptly, but i wouldn't want you to miss their looks.. here's thin lizzy with jailbreak for you:

lisa mitchell

when i was in the cinema watching alice in wonderland yesterday, there was a commercial featuring today's song and it was bugging me since because i wasn't able to figure out how i knew it. well, here it is, neopolitan dreams, and i know it because this crazy-eyed girl from "unser star für oslo" sang it and i wasn't able to avoid the video. interesting how the song sounds if someone who can actually sing performs it :)

un peu trop

as the weather still is just great, today i have a little trip to paris for you. unfortunately i again was not able do find a decent video for you, so please just go here and listen to the song "un peu trop". while you are doing that, picture yourself on a neat little street café right beside the eiffel tower in paris (works with "muzika" too i guess :) ) and here is on top sea breeze by tyrone wells, works fine with lying in the sun and dreaming the day away. just rediscovered it 2 days ago.

down in the past

due to the weather, i'm thinking something with a bit more "drive" would be appropriate today, so here is yet another song fitting in my personal "seen live" category. it should at least make your head nod along :)

on melancholy hill

here's a song which i'm listening to now and then for the last couple of days, today it finally made here: a song from the forthcoming new gorillaz album "plastic beach". sometimes gorillaz isn't really my kind of music, but this track certainly has something about it that made me initially like it.

die happy hedonism

on monday this week i bought my ticket to a album release concert of "gisbert zu knyphausen" and i was both happy and sad to read that on his main tour beginning after that, he will be assisted by a songwriter named "moritz krämer", whom i already posted in this blog, too. happy because it would be great to see them both, unhappy because i won't.. So i went over to krämer's myspace-page to listen to his music and found the video that i posted here with the song "der spatz". i remembered that this was recorded as part of a regular show in berlin called "tv noir" and that it would be time to see who else may have played there since my last visit.. here is (among other also really great music, absolutely go to their website and check for yourself) what i found:

tomorrows just a song away

when i was walking home yesterday night after some hours of watching friends get drunk i turned on my ipod and listend to this song the whole way back to my apartment, great :) and though i already posted a song by hockey, i fear it was somehow underestimated because it was the background music of this chat roulette video a few days ago. so here they are with "song away" and without distractions:

metric

100 Days, 100 Postings, 100+ awesome songs and a new layout in the beginning i wanted to post this nice bob dylan cover version of don't think twice it's alright: but then i thought..wait a moment, what about the original, it would be a shame not to post bob dylan, so here is the legend himself: ...but would a cover and the original by bob dylan justify the headline "metric"?! no, it wouldn't, so here is a third video and a second song by metric called "Help, i'm alive".. lots of music for you today i guess.

where do broken hearts go?

..who knows ? :) I don't know about you, but everytime the sun comes out i tend to choose punk-rock music instead of all the other stuff i like to hear all year long. despite the lyrics which should probably make me sad i wanna go out now and do something in the fresh, sunray-flooded air and this sad song makes me smile. funny.. have fun with me first and the gimme gimmes and one of my two favourite covers of theirs, maybe if the sun lingers a few more days you'll get to know the other one too.
