Modest Mouse

i bought the rolling stone magazine two times i guess. the second time wasn't long ago because an exclusive live recorded cd of gisbert zu knyphausen, whom i earlier posted, came with it. the first time may have been two or three years ago, don't really remember why, probably because i wanted to read it, but at that time there was a dvd included which contained this very video: Modest Mouse-Dashboard Hochgeladen von floatone . - Musikvideos, Sänger Interviews, Konzerte und mehr.

the tallest man on earth

Having listened to the debut longplayer shallow grave i'm not quite sure if it will grow on me by the time or if his voice will start annoying me soon. right now it is somehow fascinating music which i want to share with you. first thougt when i listend to him: bob dylan. but as some guy somewhere in the world wide web said: his voice is worse than bob dylans ever was :) have fun!

after the storm

great piece of music wich makes it worth posting the same band 2 times in a row. And after the storm, I run and run as the rains come And I look up, I look up, on my knees and out of luck, I look up. Night has always pushed up day You must know life to see decay But I won't rot, I won't rot Not this mind and not this heart, I won't rot. And I took you by the hand And we stood tall, And remembered our own land, What we lived for. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. And now I cling to what I knew I saw exactly what was true But oh no more. That's why I hold, That's why I hold with all I have. That's why I hold. I will die alone and be left there. Well I guess I'll just go home, Oh God knows where. Because death is just so full and mine so small. Well I'm scared of what'

mumford and sons

had it more than once.. :) edit: i just used my trip to sign up for a seminar to listen to their 2009 longplayer. they are making fabulous, inspired music, so don't hesitate to throw "sigh no more" from "mumford and sons" in your music device! As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night? For every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt And my head told my heart "Let love grow" But my heart told my head "This time no This time no"

placebo

one great moment with brian standing there in the sundown. one great memory with me standing there in the crowd. this summer's rock am ring had a very special atmosphere due to the world cup in germany. i am soo looking forward to this summer! :D But here is what i wanted to post before i stumbled over this great memory. a really nice song with a nice peace of text today for laura: you told me you like it, you're right, i do to. No one can take it away from me and no one can tear it apart 'cause a heart that hurts is a heart that works

God is an astronaut

Well, here is a song you would not listen to if i did not post it here. i am actually thinking about calling this week a post rock week because i really like this genre. let's see what the rest of the week and my moods during it my bring... For today, we are going to hear "a moment of stillness" by "god is an astronaut". Lean back and enjoy.

on my feet

i know i already posted the eels, but their new longplayer "end times" is finally available and so you do not only know the single, heres the last, summing up song on my feet. adjectives to discribe this song: simple, fragile, melancholic, yet encouraging and slightly positive, empathic, credible, ..., wonderful :) i am a man in great pain over great beauty it's not easy standing on my feet these days but you know i'm pretty sure that i've been through worse and i'm sure i can take the hit..

Nine Inch Nails

Having mentioned nine inch nails three days earlier, here's one of their songs.. well actually two again. i already posted one and stated that this was my favourite, but then i started to listen to the whole longplayer again and..what can i say :) here is "right where it belongs" and "all the love in the world" for you. and btw, it would again be a pity if you missed the lyrics while listening to the music.

Brothers in Arms

Today totally feels like this song. Same category as Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd, which i posted earlier in this blog: just awesome. Mark Knopfler singing for you, today again in two versions, live and studio. Lean back, close your eyes and enjoy!

Dave Matthews (Band)

For getting through this day, here are my two favourite songs of Dave Matthews which you both might know from House MD. What you probably did not know is that Dave Matthews is the guy who played the patient with the Asperger Syndrome in the episode "Half-Wit". Some Devil: You might die trying:

puscifer - the mission

I just found out that this is kind of an allstar band consisting of TooL's singer Maynard Keenan, Danny Lohner from Nine Inch Nails, Tim Commerford, a bassist having played with Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave and Brad Wilk from Rage Against The Machine, the woman singing is Mila Jovovich. I put you a link to the lyrics right here if you are interested.

coeur de pirate - comme des enfants

i am well aware that i just yesterday posted a french song, but what can i say, i like it, french just sounds beautiful. stumbled upon it once again surfing on hypem.com two days ago. i already knew a remix disco version of this song (yes, they remix everything nowadays) from the music blog zeitgeist top list of 2009, but recently found out that there is an original to it. unfortunately my french doesn't suffice to understand all that she sings, maybe yours does.

two songs today

... which has one reason for each of them. the first song i'd like you to know is "un peu trop" by "les yeux d'la tête". Thank you Laura for recommending them about one or two years ago. Unfortunately i wasn't able to find a decent video for it on the web, so here is the myspace link to their page and you can listen to it via their player. i garantee you will be whistling along :) the second song is "here without you" by "3 doors down", which i don't post because i want you to know it, i guess you already do, but because i just rediscovered it playing on the guitar and was delighted to see that my fingers remember, after several years, how to play it.

Finch - Letters to you

Here is Finch with "Letters to you" for you, i posted both version that can be found on their longplayer, the normal and the acoustic one. no doubt that the acoustic one sounds good, but i miss the energy in the original verion a bit. make up your own minds, it's a good song anyways:

johnossi - man must dance

well, what is there to say, i've known this song and this band for about a year or two. a friends told me about them and i couldn't believe i handn't heard of them already. We're the people, the lucky with the fragile bones the ones who sit and worry about getting to old We're the people, the happy with the broken hearts the ones who draw a picture and proclaim that it's art But you, and you, and you and you you're just a animal developed into You and you and you and you a monkey needs to dance so do you

kids

this is a song which everybody knows at least from the radio. it really caught my attention when it appeared in "that's it that's all", a film i allready mentioned earlier in this blog. crossing my ways almost every day somehow, i decided to post it today in two versions. i know there are a million remixes out there, here is one remix which is unfortunately not available at youtube anymore and one acoustic interpretation. i hope you enjoy both. Just click the link below for: Coldplay vs MGMT vs Daft Punk – Kids In Technicolor (Knights Remix) and here is the acoustic version of ben lee:

yeah yeah yeahs - heads will roll

change of genre today, this is for ede, who suggested something more danceable yesterday. i hope this satisfies you and i hope you are not too disappointed that this is not captain jack :D . if you want, listen to some more songs of the yeah yeah yeahs, they do have quite different ones (runaway, soft shock..)

Eels

Today i once again had the problem that i wasn't able to decide which song from one particular band i want to post, so here are two eels songs. the first one is "little bird", the second one is "that look you give that guy".

wonderwall

my sister julia asked me about a mixtape which i gave her for her 18th birthday yesterday. she wanted me to mail her the songs again because she scratched the cd. by searching for the songs, i thought wow, i didn't listen to much of this for a long time. heres one of those songs i almost forgot about. of course everbody knows wonderwall by oasis, here is a really good cover by ryan adams (no, not Bryan, his name is Ryan)

lips of an angel

normally i pick the songs to post not only by the music but by the text too, today it's a song which i cannot really relate to, i just like the song ;) don't mind the video, it just had the best sound quality i found on youtube. btw: tomorrow i'll be back in aachen.

obadiah parker - hey ya

i don't quite remeber when and how i discovered this version of outkast's hey ya, but i've listend to it often scince. in the outkast version i considered this to be a party song, but played in this acoustic version changes the tone completly. ...If what they say is "Nothing lasts forever" then what makes love the exception?...
